Job Title Officer Database Administration (DBA)
Job Description 1. Creates and maintains all databases required for development, testing, education and production usage and implements and enforces security for all Databases. The DBA Officer has ultimate responsibility for the physical database design.
2. Performs the capacity planning required to create and maintain the databases. The DBA Officer works closely with system administration staff.
3. Performs ongoing tuning of the database instances and implements backup and recovery of the Oracle and other database.
4. Install new versions of the Oracle RDBMS and its tools and any other tools that access the Oracle database.
5. Evaluates releases of Oracle and its tools, and third party products to ensure that the site is running the products that are most appropriate.
6. Planning is also performed by the DBA Officer, along with the application developers and System administrators, to ensure that any new product usage or release upgrade takes place with minimal impact.
7. Provides technical support to application development teams and assume the role of contact person with Oracle Corporation.
8. Enforces and maintains database constraints to ensure integrity of the database.
9. Administers all database objects, including tables, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages and procedures.
10. Create new database users as required.
Skills Required The DBA Officer should posses the following skills:
1. A good knowledge of Oracle 11g and preferably MS SQL databases and the underlying operating system(s)
2. Have the ability to troubleshoot issues related to Oracle ERP databases and ensure data integrity and security.
3. Manage upgrading, patching, cloning, tuning, migration, backup and other activities on the Oracle eBusiness Suite.
4. Works with Oracle Customer Support on critical issues and ensuring the operational uptime of theOracle ERP.
5. Have an excellent knowledge of Oracle backup and recovery scenarios.
6. Must have a good knowledge of the way Oracle enforces data integrity and security.
7. DBA Officer should have sound communication skills with management, development teams, vendors, systems administrators and other related service providers.
Education and/or Qualifications Minimum: Bachelor in Computer Science with a Certification in Oracle 11g
Experience Minimum: 1 year
Maximum: 3 years
Salary Range (PKR) Market compatible
